I recently bought a used 186d Yanmar. Does this tractor make enough power to run a post hole digger? It's rated at 18 horsepower. I don't know if that's at the engine or at the pto. I'd like to use a 9" auger.

According to our resident Yanmar guy, you have 18 ponies at the PTO. That is plenty to run a PHD.

Of course it all depends on the type of soil you have. You can still get stuck between a rock and a hard place while digging, no matter how much HP you bring to the job.
